Kristie Cyrus Profile

Kristie Cyrus DCNP has deep roots in Central California. Kristie was born here, grew up here, trained here and finally, practiced here. Her relationships in Central California span the personal and the professional in healthcare and cosmetic dermatology in Central California. We would like to ask and answer the question: who is Kristie Cyrus? Let’s embark on a journey through her life, faith, accomplishments, and her passion for her patients in the field of dermatology.

Early Life & Background

Birthplace: Hanford, California

Kristie was born in Hanford, California. Hanford is a small town 45 minutes south of Fresno. Her parents are Ralph and Patricia Hagood. Ralph served his country in Vietnam and worked in the furniture industry in Hanford. Patricia is a retired schoolteacher. Kristie’s parents shared with her a love for Christ, family, and country. A country girl, she has always loved horses and animals and continues to ride regularly.

Education & Training

The University of California at Davis was Kristie’s first port of call. Her love for animals translated to a degree in animal science and she hopes to become a veterinarian. The disappointment of not getting accepted to the veterinarian program at UC Davis would lay the groundwork that would lead to her becoming a voracious learner. Later, she achieved an Associate of Science in Nursing degree at the College of the Sequoias.

Not stopping at her bachelor’s, Kristie aimed higher. Kristie secured her Master of Science in Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the California State University, Fresno in 2013 and immediately went to work at Boswell Dermatology. During this time, she became a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP). This certification requires passing a national board in Dermatology and 3,000 hours of direct patient care in the field of dermatology. In the 10 years of practice and Boswell Dermatology Kristie became an expert in both medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Journey in Healthcare

Kristie worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for Adventist Health in Hanford and Selma for 12 years. Kristie’s role for Adventist Health was as a clinical RN in the Preoperative Care Unit (preop), intraoperative theatre, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Kristie enjoyed great relationships and treasured her opportunity to be of service in the small town where she grew up. Kristie met her loving husband, Maurice Cyrus (Nurse Anesthesiologist) while working together to care for patients in Hanford and Selma.

Personal Life

Life isn’t all work and no play for Kristie. Kristie and Maurice Cyrus were married in 2008 in Bass Lake, CA. They have two awesome children: Stone and Ava. Home where she juggles the roles of a professional, a mother, a wife, and so much more. Kristie has a servants heart.

Hobbies and Interests

Kristie is a woman of diverse interests. She is an avid wakeboarder, trains in the discipline of mixed martial arts at Dethrone Basecamp, skis, and loves horseback riding with Ava. You can often see the Cyrus family walking their three dogs: Roxy (Yorkie), Boscoe (McNab Collie), and Scout (German Shepherd). Kristie is full of surprises!

Faith

Kristie and her family attend The Well Community Church/Fig Garden Campus. The site pastor is Josh Hawley, and the lead paster is Brad Bell. While life never gets easy, a life in Christ has been and will be the most important aspect of her life.
